I am part of the Enterprise Architecture team and while we are finishing the disentanglement between Bank and Insurance, on 30 March 2018, NN Insurance Belgium and Delta Lloyd Life merged to become one company: NN Insurance Belgium NV/SA.Since I worked at Delta Lloyd Life I still had several contacts and that was an advantage. The first step I took was bringing the two middleware teams (virtually) together before any other actions were taken by the management on that level. This way we could maintain the 2 separate approaches around integration and start defining a new target solution with an intermediary temporary phase together.At the moment I am defining the integration strategy within IT for the merge and also rolling out an API Program for the new initiatives that we need to support.We have a lot of challenges we need to take into account* Support traditional legacy integration scenarios* Support future Global Cloud, SaaS and Mobile scenarios* Prepare our IT environment for Open Data strategy* Position RPA (Robotics Process Automation) as a solution in our IT Landscape* Taking the first steps building a CIAM platform to support our target customer engagement applications NN Partner (portal) and NN Connect (mobile aplication)* Offer an on premise and iPaaS solution that are equally robust* Consistent approach whether integration is on premise or in the Cloud* Build a mature solution (Platform, Operations, LCM, Support)* Defining a common set of best practices and standards* Provide leadership and governance for projects against these best practices* Providing direct guidance/support to projects in implementing the best practices* Implementing a new way of working following SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) * New challenges due to the merge:** ensuring efforts of the CoE are not wasted** Organization tends to believe the CoE is an extra baggage and slows down projects.

As an integration architect, I am supporting a customer in one of their largest projects, by using best practices and design patterns to create the best reliable architecture for the specific work packages (project parts). On the one hand, we focus on SOA Governance: the client consists of a large number of back offices, each with their own services. To make use of these services, there is a need for a service-oriented architecture. Determining the strategy using CentraSite as their Business Service Repository is one of the important activities to assure consistent quality and keeping the services aligned with the business needs.On the other hand, there is a need for a high available integration platform, to serve as an enterprise service bus to exchange signals/messages between the back offices and frontend. Besides developing best practices according to certain patterns to realize the business processes, a reliable exchange mechanism is needed to orchestrate the messages in correct order to the right party.

I8C developed into a company of more than 30 employees over the first 7 years. I grew together with the company, starting as an Integration consultant, but assuming new roles and more responsibilities as time went by. At the end, I was responsible for many I8C'ers (coaching, follow-up, technical support, ...), employed in integration projects. In order to create new opportunities, I worked together with software partners as a pre-sales consultant.As an Integration consultant, I started developing specific solutions for several customers. Over the years, I acquired experience in using different technologies and information systems to support organizational plans and goals. Continuously improvement was required to identify fresh approaches, keeping in mind the newest technology. I focused on designing, building and supporting Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) and Business Process Management (BPM) solutions when integrating existing applications/systems (EAI - Enterprise Application Integration) across an enterprise and with business partners (B2B - Business-to-Business Integration).To lead the way in the market, there was a need of internal events and meetings to share the skills and knowledge with each other. As we were growing fast, it was important to be well organized and work independently keeping in mind the different deadlines. Leadership and vision were needed to manage groups of people and major projects/initiatives.As an active member of the senior management team, I contributed to a positive employer/employee relationship, promoting a high ethical and motivational level, to enhance the "I8C Culture", thus leading a happy and harmonious working environment. I provided quality management and support in taking prime responsibility for the overall planning, management, performance and achievement of the monthly/yearly objectives for the SUN/Oracle (and a part of the webMethods) division within I8C as written in the overall company strategic plan.

We started a completely new company/business, i.e. Jobs4Freelancers, a highly personalized career service for freelancers, interim-managers and independents (senior executives). It will connect the user with an exclusive job market, offering the largest and highest-quality selection of freelance and interim-management jobs across Europe.My objective was the development and delivery of the website as an all-in solution. Next to the architecture, my main responsibility was project management by leading a team of consultants in various roles.Jobs4freelancers was the foundation for (formerly Talent 4.0 until 2020) All European Careers BENELUX.

Member of an International Team of Lotus Domino Operation experts that consisted of 15 persons (6 in Germany and 9 in Belgium). My department was supporting the Mail/application platforms for multiple customers and for more than 60.000 users. My responsibilities cover a large scale: from helping clients with daily routines, supporting customers in problem situations, analyzing and solving complex (3th line) incidents keeping in mind the agreed SLA's (e.g. reaction times, availability, on-call service).Also the configuration of the Lotus Domino domain and building (developing) administration tools for automation purposes have become part of my tasks: after several weeks I suggested changes in the daily operations and was allowed to develop some administration tools to automate most of the manual interventions. Another challenge, and my biggest project during this period, was the migration from R5 to Lotus Domino R6.

I worked together with a classmate to startup a firm that focuses on development of small/large web applications, email, hosting, domain registration and online backup. My purpose was to develop company experience during college time.My main responsibility was the development and delivery of different web applications. The responsibilities however were extending from presales contacts to analyzing and estimating, contract negotiation and post-delivery support. An overall responsibility was required to ensure on-time on-budget delivery.
