I am a multimedia specialist turned social scientist, holding a bachelor's degree in Multimedia and Communication Technology (University College West-Flanders) and a master's degree in Political Sciences (Ghent University). Currently I work as an Assistant Professor in Social Work and Social Policy affiliated with the Centre for Sociological Research (CESO) at the University of Leuven. I am also affiliated with the Herman Deleeck Centre for Social Policy at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). From October till December 2017 I am a Visiting Fellow in the Centre for the Analysis of Social Exclusion (CASE) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).My main research topics are family policy (childcare, parental leave and child benefits) and its social distribution, poverty and social inequality, the design and effectiveness of social policy measures, the social investment state, and social work research. I have also published on and written about basic income, female labour market participation, European social policy, and the welfare state sensu lato.
