Graduate Teaching Assistant, Department Of Sociology
San Francisco, Ca, Us
While completing my Master's degree, I worked alongside an Associate Professor to support the academic needs of undergraduate students. Throughout the academic year, I was responsible for supporting three department courses, including Research Methods, Asian Pacific Islanders in the U.S. Society, and Sociology Capstone Seminar. To provide the necessary academic support, I took on various responsibilities such as editing and grading assignments, providing feedback and assistance to students as they developed their semester projects, and facilitating academic writing workshops. These activities helped to enhance students' critical thinking and academic writing skills, while also enabling them to develop more effective research and communication strategies. In addition to my regular responsibilities, I was also given the opportunity to guest lecture the Research Methods Qualitative Interviewing class. This experience allowed me to share my knowledge and expertise with students, and helped to foster an environment of active learning and engagement.Throughout my time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I developed strong interpersonal skills, honed my ability to provide constructive feedback and support to students, and gained valuable experience in academic writing, research, and presentation skills. These skills have proven invaluable as I continue to pursue my career in academia and beyond.
