Clients commit to a monthly development rate and in return, they receive pro rata development services, product planning, and sprint planning. In effect, clients distribute technology development related risks with other area companies.Unlike an internal development approach, our model removes recruiting costs, provides a full integrated, proven team immediately, relieves some managerial challenges, provides a more diverse body of talent, and the team remains intact in the event of financial challenges.Traditionally, agencies receive more compensation as the cost of meeting the client’s objectives grows. With East Five’s approach, the agency only profits by meeting the client’s needs as cost effectively as possible. This pairs with a significant reduction in overhead costs to very significantly reduce client costs. The Chief Technology Officer at Lonely Planet is responsible for development, design, and product initiatives which span ~100 roles, filled by talented individuals organized into ~14 high performing teams, located in Tennessee, Australia, England, and Dubai with one goal: ensure Lonely Planet's future product offerings exceed the expectations of the customer.

While serving as Chief Technology Officer for Magic Moments a new and proprietary technology to advance the custom product market was developed by me. It enables designers to create new product renderings and serve them to a phone to be rendered directly using the graphics processor for responsiveness and battery efficiency. This is all done dynamically offering the ability to add or update products without an update to the app. Product rendering changes are also possible without involving technical resources.This technology was then integrated into an entirely new mobile application. Backend technology was also created from the ground up to leverage cloud capabilities. Not only does it manage product, payment, and fulfillment, it also scales dynamically. This was put to the test by an unprecedented server load during our first appearance on Shark Tank. It currently dynamically scales to accommodate spikes in load associated with reruns of Shark Tank featuring Magic Moments.

Bootstrapped a one man technology department into a multi-tiered, mission-oriented organization within a company which has migrated from professional services to products in two years. Currently, my mission focuses on converting the greatness that our employees do into seamlessly connected products that produce great user experiences and profits.
