Growing up I dreaded the question, "what are you going to be when you grow up?" It took me every bit of four years in high school to research any and all fields (3 or 4 times) to finally come across the exhilarating and ever-changing field of.. accounting! (wait isn't accounting boring?) I thought so too at first and based my decision senior year on "good hours" and "decent job security."During my time at Ball State, the Miller College of Business provided me with endless opportunities, both in the classroom and in other networking channels to develop a strong passion for the business world (one I never dreamed of having.) I was able to meet professionals from all across the world during the Miller College of Business Executive Advisory Board Meetings through my involvement with the Dean's Student Advisory Board--these conversations with retired CEOs, CFOs, and Controllers truly birthed my love for the business world. They inspired me with their personal stories, their stories of struggle, failure, hard work, determination, perseverance, and later, success. These men and women engraved something inside of me, a burning passion, a drive to make their legacies of hard work and success live on through my generation.As a recent graduate, it's finally my turn to gain first-hand experience in the business world. During my time at RSM, I was able to see how businesses (from a multitude of industries) function at both business and 'day-to-day' levels. I was able to develop an understanding of each and every client and, in turn, I have gained an abundance of knowledge and experience in both public accounting and the business world.I am now "living the dream," working part-time (from home) for a Company invested in helping each and every patient live to their fullest potential through chiropractic care and maintaining a healthy and toxic-free lifestyle, all while raising my son and helping out on the farm (doing both accounting work & tractor driving!) I'm overflowing with gratitude on where I'm at today & even more excited to see what's to come!
