Senior Developer / Squad Lead / Scrum MasterIress Market Technology Dec 2010 - May 201814 Martin Place, Sydney CbdWorked on the market leading software XPLAN - a portfolio and wealth management system used by financial advisers, wealth planners, traders and financial technology experts. Designed, developed, maintained, managed a swathe of modules for mobile and cloud-based applications. -
Senior DeveloperSpecial Broadcasting Service (Sbs) Australia Jun 2007 - Dec 2010ArtarmonAs a senior developer I was tasked to re-evaluate and audit existing systems; was able to drive the entire team to move to more robust and structured frameworks. I was responsible in introducing the team to the Zend framework; and trained the development team in MVC patterns. SBS then had reusable components, centralised repositories of global classes and optimised system for serving web pages. I’ve also led the creation and deployment of several high-profile websites (www.sbs.com.au/news, theworldgame.sbs.com.au, www.sbs.com.au/films) and optimised all the backend systems.I single-handedly created for SBS what is now being used throughout the organisation as a centralised Content Management System, named Redback. This controls all of the content across all range of sites that are found in the SBS site. Developed with PHP-MySQL in the backend and frontend with Sencha (ExtJS). Designed, developed and deployed a widget-based framework for delivering variety of web content, currently used in all our TV programs’ websites. As a video project producer and developer, I managed the migration of the old video system (Roo player) to the in-house video player; this involved creating the new CMS that powers the video assets; liaising with both internal and external sources and developing the seamless integration of the video workflow with the existing web sites’ workflows. This resulted in record number of videos ever streamed in SBS’ history.I also led a variety of projects aimed for mobile platform; created the first iPhone enabled World Cup scores web-app for SBS. Several of my projects and sites were nominated in the 2009 AIMIA Awards.Part of my role is meeting with various external services and companies that help deliver some of SBS’ content; ensuring that functional and technical requirements set by SBS producers are met. -
Account Manager, Senior DeveloperNetventures May 2006 - Jun 2007Sydney, AustraliaAs an external partner of Bigpond, Netventures is the sole software developer for the Bigpond streaming media portal: http://bigpondguide.com. I was employed to restructure the existing PHP4 application to migrate to PHP5. I created the framework from which the new application is built. I developed the processes, and putting in place the necessary code protocols and auditing codes of the developers in the team to conform to the new framework. This resulted in the more robust, more reliable Bigpond web application. The app now is fully OO, complete with reusable components and is able to communicate with other external modules such as targeted advertising, SEO engines, and other miscellaneous web plug-ins.As the account manager for Bigpond, my responsibilities include liaising with the project managers at Telstra, gathering requirements, documenting RDDs and technical specifications; making sure that the outcomes of the development cycle more than meets expectations required by the client. This also involves making sure that other vendors and 3rd party suppliers can seamlessly work with the portal.Key highlights of the software:A first class streaming video application - the application uses MediaPlayer to create a streaming media user experience.Ajax-enabled VMS (video management system) – part of my redesign project is to create a more user-friendly VMS for the channel producers.A robust backend built with a unique framework – combining Flash remoting, Ajax, PHP5 and MySQL.An XML-centric interface – I have also coded SOAP methods to provide external channels a centralised repository of videos.
