I am a PhD student at Princeton University with a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) from the National University of Singapore. A quantitative comparativist by training, I am primarily interested in Comparative Politics, with regional foci on East Asia, Maritime Southeast Asia (SG, MY, ID), and the South Pacific.A Singaporean of Kinmenese, Taiwanese, and Malaysian descent, I am particularly interested in investigating forms of elite capture, development and governance, policing and monitoring, and organised crime, particularly in my regions of interest, not least in other island states like Singapore and Taiwan. Methodologically, I am interested in causal mediation analysis and the synthetic control method. In my free time, I indulge in learning the most recent developments in mathematical modelling in the social sciences, the occasional K-drama, and my stash of unread mangas.
