Attarat Power Company signed a power purchase agreement with the government of Jordan in2014 to develop an Independent Power Provider working on the direct burning of the oil shalewith a net capacity of 470 Mega Watts and a total cost of 2.2 billion US dollars, noting that theproject has achieved the financial close in March 2017 and it is planned to reach to thecommercial operation date in October 2020. I have been asked by the Economic Policy Development Forum which was Launched By The Talal Abu Ghazaleh Organisation, to contribute as an expert in the Energy and as a well known engineer who worked before in NEPCO-Jordan in the design department , to prepare a study paper with some Jordanian experts in the Energy Field on a Voluntary basis. This paper aims to introduce a helping hand to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Jordan to recover from the ENERGY CRISIS. As this Economic Policy Development Forum which was Launched By The Talal Abu Ghazaleh Organisation aims in general to gather the experts in different fields to prepare studies on voluntary basis to introduce the guidelines to the government in different aspects. The Group of the Jordanian Experts whom were chosen to prepare the study paper includes the following key persons :  Mr. Suleiman Al Hafez – Former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Former Minister of Finance  Mr. Samir Murad – Former Minister of Labors  Mr. Muhamed Arafeh – The Former Manager of the Jordan Electricity Association  Dr. Ahmad Hiyasat – The Former General Director of NEPCO – National Electric Power Company  Wisam Kakish – Senior Substations Design Engineer On April 1, 2012 the a comprehensive study paper has been prepared and sent to the related parties .
