Wisdom is a Governance, Risk Management, Control and Compliance specialist with almost 30 years of banking, IT and power industry, and consulting experience. Wisdom started his banking career in January 1993, as a Management Associate (MA) in Citibank Nigeria. After his MA program, Wisdom was assigned to Independent Control Unit where a separate department, then known as Resident Inspection Team (responsible for Bank-wide Compliance and Quality Assurance), was carved out for him under the direct supervision of the Chief Auditor. He quickly acquired the requisite product and process knowledge and developed a reputation for resolving knotty issues of control and compliance. He was later moved to head Reconcilement, Records and Customer Complaints department where he automated the nostro-accounts reconcilement process of the bank, before moving on to head the Verifications and Technology Controls department. He subsequently left Operations and Technology Group to join Commercial Banking Credit Risk Management where he was the Portfolio Risk Manager. His in-depth knowledge of banking policies and the internal control function as well as his understanding of the risk management process have been called upon several times in resolving issues in other Citibanklocations outside Nigeria. He subsequently joined FirstBank Plc in July 2005 asInternal Control Coordinator with control responsibility for all Head Office Departments and all First Bank subsidiaries. He was subsequently appointed as the Corporate Control Head, a position he occupied until April 2009 when he joined Diamond Bank Plc, Lagos as Group Head of Internal Controls. He subsequently left to join Union Bank of Nigeria Plc as Head of Internal Control and Operational Risk Management where he crafted the control framework and instituted the control structure that is currently in place. He was also responsible for setting up the Operational Risk Management function in the bank. Wisdom holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) and Master of Science (M.Sc) degrees in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan and an MBA(Finance) from the University of Lagos. His professional affiliations include International Member, American Management Association (AMA), Member, The Institute of Chartered Management Auditors (ICMA), Member, ISACA. He is also a certified Fraud Examiner (Johannesburg, 2008).
