Manager, Swe Programs - Technologies Program Management
CurrentIn 2017 I transitioned to managing a team of program managers responsible for the bring-up and support of new software for in-development hardware as well as for modernizing many of the systems Apple relies upon for shipping software updates.
Program Manager, Swe Programs - Build And Release
I joined SWE Programs to oversee the 64-bit transition for iOS 7 (this included hiding support for a 64-bit variant of iOS during iOS 7 seeding). I managed build and release operations for iOS 7.1 and it's software updates as well as contributed to the efforts to build a trimmed down variant of iOS targeting the Apple Watch hardware with changes in both iOS and watchOS. I later drove the bring-up of a distinct development platform for watchOS and tvOS to support native third party applications. I managed the overall release of tvOS 9.0 and the fourth generation Apple TV, working with internal framework teams to support the tvOS UI characteristics as well as with evangelism teams to incorporate third party developer feedback into this process.
Program Manager, Software Engineering - Developer Tools
I was responsible for managing features of the Xcode 4.3, 4.4 and 4.5 releases with the goal of enabling the new codebase to be usable for building both macOS and iOS. This coincided with efforts to convert Xcode to a standalone app that could be installed via the Mac App Store as well as adoption of Objective-C's Automatic Reference Counting and a move away from Garbage Collection. I also managed Xcode's support for building a 64-bit iOS release in support of the iPhone 5s as well as the OS adoption of low level tools like the compiler and linker.
Software Engineer, Software Engineering - Developer Tools
I worked on various pieces of the IDE including Interface Builder, the core build system, Xcode's various platform extensions and the data modeler. I implemented support for a number of initiatives driven by new OS functionality in iOS 3 - 6 and macOS 10.6 - 10.8. This included the initial release of developer tools for building applications for the iPad (with support for the new screen size and iPad specific UI metaphors as well as Universal Apps that could run on both iPhone and iPad), Retina screen sizes in iOS 4, iCloud syncing in iOS 5 and macOS 10.7, new screen sizes in iOS 6 and iOS 7's 64-bit support. I also developed workflow enhancements designed to assist a number of internal engineers working on projects like Apple Maps, Apple TV and Siri. During this time these pieces of functionality were co-developed for the Xcode 3 codebase as well as the ground-up rewrite Xcode 4 codebase. I implemented migration tools to help assist co-development across these releases internally.
