I am a Senior Scientist at Merck, USA, Sterile & Specialty Products - Biologic Development & Biopharmaceutics. Previously, I was a researcher at Harvard Medical School | Massachusetts Eye and Ear, where I worked on the fabrication of smart drug eluting contact lenses. Prior to joining HMS, I joined Saint-Louis Hospital and CEA, Paris, as a postdoctoral fellow. My work at that time was in the area of biomaterials and regenerative medicine and involved the fabrication of esophageal substitute using 3D bioprinting. Having been earned my Ph.D. degree in September 2018, I joined the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden and I worked for about one and a half year as a postdoctoral associate where I focused on the development of new biomaterials using enzyme engineering strategies. I received a Ph.D. in the area of polymer and biomaterials from a joint program between North Carolina State University, USA and Lyon University, IMP, UJM, France. My Ph.D. thesis was focused on biopolymers and their applications, this include drug delivery hydrogels and stimi-responsive networks. Prior to my doctoral studies, I earned a Master degree in cancer biology and oncology from the Lebanese University, Beirut, Lebanon, in 2015. During work for the master’s degree, I completed nine months of internship at the American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon. I have published more than a dozen of peer reviewed articles and presented at many international scientific conferences. I received a number of awards and recognitions, including the prestigious Eiffel Excellence Scholarship (awarded in 2017), issued by the French Ministry of Europe & Foreign Affairs and the 2019 Prix du doctorant étranger issued by Association des Amis de l'Université de Lyon and Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and this is based on the good academic record and accomplishments in the division of biomaterials.
