Serve as the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest Fire Information Assistant and sole Fire Public Information Officer. The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is the largest forest in the lower 48 states, spanning across 6.3 million acres of diverse landscape across the state of Nevada and a small portion of eastern California. There are twenty-four wilderness areas located across the seven districts of the forest, along with five interagency fire dispatch centers. Due to its incredible size and vast expanse, the Humboldt-Toiyabe is a high complexity forest with several distinct audiences, sensitives and factors that vary by district.Directly report to the Forest Fire Management Officer and support the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest with public information across the forest, particularly as it pertains to wildland fire and the Fire and Aviation Management Program including fire prevention, public affairs, recruitment an education. Prioritize objectives as defined by the Forest Fire Management Officer and meet consistent deadlines. Assist the Fire Management in situations without clear precedents and implement new and innovative ideas to better serve the fire organization and public interest. Disseminate critical information to the public quickly and accurately through several forums. Provided information on forty-seven wildland fires in 120 days during the 2020 fire season.Act as a conduit for the public to address issues and questions to Forest Management. Coordinate with both District and Forest Fire Management Officers to create consistent information that serves the needs of both the individual District and Forest. Identify areas to be addressed, needs of the target audience and the most appropriate communication techniques and drafts materials for supervisor approval.
