I was Counsel in the finance department of Ashurst LLP, a leading international law firm, based in their New York City office. My practice focused on advising a wide-range of corporate clients, primarily major financial institutions, in connection with equity and credit derivatives, and CDOs. I also advised in respect of various aspects of the Dodd-Frank and regulations thereunder, particularly as these impacted transactions featuring stand-alone or embedded derivatives.In the course of my representation of major financial institutions in respect of the above transactions, I have acquired considerable familiarity with U.S. federal anti-money laundering and OFAC sanctions laws, rules and regulations.

I was one of the founders of and served as General Counsel to Athilon, LLC (“Athilon”), one of the first credit derivatives product company to be launched. Athilon provided credit protection on super-senior tranches of “CDOs squared” and other complex credit derivative transactions.

I was Special Counsel in the New York City office of Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP, where my practice focused on structured finance transactions, CDOs and credit derivatives.

Hamilton, Bermuda

I was one of the founders of and served as General Counsel to Commercial Guaranty Assurance, Ltd., a Bermuda-based financial guaranty insurance company (“CGA”). In January 2000, I was promoted to President and Chief Underwriting Officer. CGA focused on guaranteeing asset-backed and commercial mortgage-backed debt securities, as well as the financial obligations of captive finance vehicles, including medium-term notes, other debt securities, credit derivatives and bank borrowings, which finance vehicles would utilize the proceeds of such borrowings to invest in structured finance assets which met CGA’s underwriting criteria.

I was Senior Counsel to FGIC’s structured finance group, where I was the senior attorney on FGIC’s more challenging structured finance transactions, including all transactions where FGIC insured obligations backed by non-U.S. assets, including the first U.S. securitization of consumer loan receivables from Japan, and numerous securitizations supported by English and European assets.
