I designed 2 replica Boeing 787 Dreamliner Lavatories and worked on a redesign of B787 re-packable oxygen drop masks system, amongst other smaller tasks.

I worked at RP Aero Systems as an Undergraduate Design Engineer for my industrial placement year. Skills I gained during this placement include experience designing for; composites (GRP & Carbon), MDF & Epoxy Patterns, Sheet-metal components, 3D printed parts, wooden parts for 3 & 5 axis machining, and housings for electronics.Using SolidWorks by Dassault Systemes. I designed parts, assemblies and tooling for; Boeing 777, Airbus A380 and A320 Cabin Service Trainers for British Airway and Embraer E170 Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer for Republic Airlines.I also completed a number of other smaller tasks using SolidWorks, such as designing a wall mount for a replica 1999 McLaren F1 car, for use in-house. I also designed tooling for production of prototype McLaren Automotive composite components.

It was a fantastic experience working at Elstree Aviation for a week, I was given the opportunity to shadow the Aircraft Mechanics who were doing annual maintenance of aircraft, I performed an oil filter change on a Cessna 172, and change the oil and spark plugs on a twin engined prop aircraft.I also assisted in moving aircraft out of and into the hangers.
