Technology is an interesting topic. There are thousands, if not millions of different ways to apply technology in our day-to-day lives. Whether it be something as large as the first smartphone invented in 1992, or something as small as a lamp that turns on when you clap, technology is fascinating. My desire to learn more about technology sprouted from my first custom-built PC at home. This opened the door to me learning more about computers. I tried my hand at coding, and while I do not believe it is entirely for me, I developed a strong problem-solving mentality, and my curiosity has heightened. I have a passion for learning about new tech, and I aspire to learn more about AI and how it can be beneficial in the workplace. While working with tech may be intricate, it will never be as intricate as working with people. This is one skill I have strengthened immensely over the last few years of working in the Customer Service industry. While working at Sheetz, I quickly found out that I was not great at talking to new people. It was in the middle of quarantine, and I had been quite reserved. One day I decided enough was enough, and I forced myself to work the registers so I would get more experience talking to people. This was the best decision of my life. Through my newly found skills in communication and relationship building, I discovered my desire to help people. Between juggling my academics and assisting with the care of my father at home, I did not have much freedom to get into extracurriculars. I had a mindset that I just needed to get through school and go about my life, but then my mother started working from home and I discovered a student organization known as Consult Your Community (CYC).CYC had opened my eyes to what feels like a new world. We provide pro-bono consulting services to under-resourced minority-led businesses and non-profits, and I feel invigorated to help more people. Originally, I had overlooked the consulting field, but through further research, I have concluded that it is a perfect bridge for my career desires. Between my passion for technology, building relationships, and helping people, consulting has the perfect formula. I have come to realize that there are a lot of businesses that have not fully utilized the potential of technology. With the ever-changing realm of technology, it may be hard to keep up, but that is where I come in. If you are looking for someone who is eager to work with like-minded peers, has a desire to help their community, and is hungry for more knowledge, I would love to connect.
