Sup boarden, of in de Hawaiiaanse taal Hoe he’e Nalu, is een oude vorm van surfen uit Hawaii en opnieuw ontdekt als een manier om te surfen waarbij surfinstructeurs grote groepen studenten staand op hun boards instructies gaven en zo vanuit een hoger standpunt meer zicht hadden op de surfers en op wat er om hen heen gebeurde. Sup boarden is een vorm van golfsurfen op een golfsurfplank met een lengte van minimaal drie meter en een peddel. In tegenstelling tot gewoon golfsurfen, waar liggend of knielend met de armen gepeddeld wordt, wordt bij een sup board gebruik gemaakt van een peddel.Sup boarden is op dit moment de snelst groeiende watersport. Dit komt vooral door het enorme plezier wat sup boarden geeft, gecombineerd met de intensiviteit. Sup boarden groeit in Nederland steeds sneller, en kan worden beoefend in de zee, op een meer, sloten, kanalen en grachten.
