Andrew J. A. Head, MAAE, CFP® brings nearly 20 years of financial services experience to his roles at Western Kentucky University. Originally joining the faculty of the Department of Finance in 2010 as Executive-in-Residence, he transitioned to Assistant Professor in 2015, and was promoted to Associate Professor, with tenure, in 2021. Andrew is the founding and current Director of the WKU Center for Financial Success, managing various financial literacy programs, including a peer-financial-counseling clinic that currently employs six students working as Financial Success Counselors. He is also the founding and current Faculty Advisor to the WKU Financial Planning Association™ Student Chapter. Professor Head currently teaches courses in Personal Finance, Income Tax Planning, Risk Management & Insurance Planning, and Financial Planning Practice Management. He served as the WKU (CFP® Board Registered) Financial Planning Program Director from 2011-2015, and remains actively involved in program design and leadership. Andrew is Managing Principal and a practicing financial planner with Journey Financial Management, LLC, a KY-registered RIA. Andrew has prior professional experience working in banking and trust in addition to extensive roles with wirehouse and independent advisory firms, both in the US and abroad.Andrew is the co-author of more than 15 chapters for the CFP® Board Financial Planning Competency Handbook, 1st, and 2nd editions, and has represented CFP® Board as a judge for the National Financial Planning Challenge competition at both the 2015 and 2016 FPA BE Conferences.
