Dr. Wil LaVeist is an award-winning executive leader and multimedia journalist with companies such as The Arizona Republic, Tribune, and The Virginian-Pilot Media. "The Wil LaVeist Show," and podcast originated from Smooth 88.1FM WHOV.org in Hampton, Va. Wil is a frequent contributor to shows, such as "Another View" on Public Radio WHRV in Norfolk. Through his company, Wil develops culturally competent communications for organizations. He has a doctorate in tech & media studies from Old Dominion University, is an executive leadership graduate of Indiana University's Lilly School of Philanthropy, and Tufts University Digital Health Communications program, a masters from the University of Arizona Graduate School of Journalism and Communications and bachelors from The Lincoln University of PA. Wil's research interests are in the areas of health, philanthropy, and Black media history. Wil teaches communications at The University of Maryland Global Campus. He is a certified online instructor. As Senior Executive for Advancement for Mission Network, Wil leads a global division that includes communications and donor relations. Wil helped developed and launched web initiatives such as, AZCentral.com and Tribune's BlackVoices.com. He developed revenue generating web strategies. He was the first Black metro columnist for Tribune's Daily Press in Newport News, VA. As editor/publisher of Mix Magazine (The Virginian-Pilot), Wil covered President Obama's historic election. Wil authored the award-winning book "Fired Up," and co-authored the popular "Tom Joyner Presents How to Prepare for College" for the Tom Joyner Foundation. Wil has contributed to books such as, "Black Voices In Commentary" by the Trotter Group.
