About Wayne Marr

I am the CEO and Director of the Financial Economics Association headquartered in Austin, Texas, USA. I am also an Adjunct Professor at Meta Business School (online teaching.) Additionally, I am a non executive director of Seed CX.I started my career at Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, Virginia) in the early 1980s. I taught corporate finance and money & banking. I researched financial markets and spent time at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Washington DC in the 1980s.In 1986 I moved to Tulane University (New Orleans) where I continued to conduct research and teach. In 1990, I moved to Clemson University and continued my research and teaching in finance.For the next 10 years I worked in the corporate sector where I was a founder of SSRN (www.ssrn.com) with Michael Jensen (Professor Emeritus from Harvard) and Gene Fama (Nobel Prize Winner and Professor from University of Chicago). I initially founded the Financial Economics Network and invited Mike to join me. We went on to develop SSRN. After creating and building SSRN, I stayed in the computer industry working at TEKsystems/Dell and Computer Sciences CorporationCurrently, I am working with Michael Gibbs (University of Chicago) and Olena Verbanko (University of Chicago), as well as others, on possible research projects. Also, I am building another internet firm. My passion is moving the latest excellent research into the hands of the users as quickly as possible in all fields on endeavor, but specifically, financial economics; a key addendum is the translation of complex academic work into “readable work” for practitioners.
