Plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate fire and EMS operations. Establish policies and procedures. Supervise and coordinate the preparation and presentation of an annual budget. Respond to alarms and direct activities at the scene of major emergencies, as required. Supervise the Fire Marshal and Fire Prevention Division. Handle grievances, maintain departmental discipline, conduct and general behavior of assigned personnel. Prepare and submit monthly reports to the mayor and city council regarding the department’s activities and prepare a variety of other reports as appropriate, including the annual report of activities. Meet with elected or appointed officials, other fire/EMS officials, community and business representatives, and the public on all aspects of the department’s activities. Represent the city fire/EMS departments in a variety of local, county, state and other meetings. Operate as city Emergency Management Coordinator.

Teach courses in the Fire Science Degree Program including Fire Apparatus Pumper - Driver/Operator, Firefighter Health and Safety, and Fire Certification I - VII.

Operate as Instructor, or Lead Instructor during classroom or hands on skills training of adult students. Courses include basic fire academy, fire officer, and driver/operator.
