Regardless of any given role, my WHY is to catalyze progress, so that we can pursue audacious and meaningful goals.I have a nineteen-year career in higher education administration but also have a doctorate in Aviation and Space Education and a passion for the aerospace field. I am interested in space exploration, STEM education, aerospace leadership and management, science communication for general audiences, higher education administration, technology integration in higher education, and student motivation and persistence. My blended education and experience are a bit unique but I enjoy working in higher ed while also feeding my personal interests by keeping an eye on the sky.At UCO, I really enjoyed finding ways to implement and utilize technology to improve the student educational experience. Whether I was working with my team to improve and expand electronic access control or video surveillance solutions, developing policy for the use of escooters on campus, leading the implementation of a mobile food ordering application, or negotiating partnerships for our esports arena, I was able to see tangible impacts on students' quality of life at our institution.As a Project Manager with Transact Campus, I am responsible for engaging with clients for the successful delivery of projects across a wide variety of financial technology product offerings in the Higher Education market. Authorized purchases. Monitored the departmental budget utilizing the university’s financial information system. Provided monthly budget reports to supervisor. Established department’s annual budget priorities and submitted annual budget proposals to supervisor for review and approval;• Designed and executed annual new student academic orientation programming, attended by approximately 2000-3000 students per semester, either online or at in-person orientation events. Longitudinal tracking of enrolled students indicated that students who attended orientation events were 4% more likely, on average, to persist from first to second year vs. students who did not attend;• Coordinated student recruitment efforts, designed student orientation content and marketing, and provided annual staff education and training workshops that resulted in a 250% increase in the university’s first-year student success course over a four-year period;• Taught, on average, one to two first-year student success courses per semester. First-year student success courses had an average class size of 24. Students who successfully completed the first-year student success course were 3.2% more likely to persist from first to second year vs. students who did not take the course;• Lead editor for three editions of "College Talk: Conversations for Central Success", published in 2008, 2010, and 2014.
