* Led development of the system’s control software which uses a multi-threaded architecture to communicate with system components (e.g. joint encoders, motor controllers, a force-torque sensor, and other software applications)and safely control the motion of a robotic guidance arm in response to user and sensor inputs.* Designed a haptic interface that allows a user to intuitively manipulate a dental drill mounted to the end of a robotic arm through direct force interactions with the drill. Virtual fixtures constrain drill motion to assist the user in accurately positioning the drill for preparation of the planned implant site.* Developed kinematic calibration procedures, software tools, and mechanical fixtures to achieve sub-millimeter accuracy of both a six-dof robot arm and a seven-dof passive mechanical tracking arm.* Escorted the system through product safety testing (EMC/EMI, Medical Safety) at a test house and performed on-site system debugging and design changes in response to test results.* Managed electrical engineering consultants on circuit board design and microcontroller firmware development projects.* Provided direct input and engineering assistance to mechanical design, user-interface software application, quality/regulatory, and marketing teams. This includes specifying and recommending electrical and mechanical subsystems; developing test protocols and accompanying mechanical fixtures and software tools; meeting with and observing clinicians; writing and reviewing regulatory documentation, such as Failure Mode Effects Analysis(FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Verification and Validation Protocols, FDA Responses, Instructions For Use, and User Training Materials.
