There are two active thought mindsets in play for Leaders within any Culture. They are what I have defined as System Thinking and Relational Thinking. Systems Thinking is how things get done based upon the Symbols, Systems and Processes in play, Relational Thinking is all about how you influence your people through their intentional growth and development in their gifted zones. So what happens in our instant result and busyness environments is Leaders operate on the basis of System Thinking 90%+ of the time even when critical Relational Thinking circumstances exist. This is because it is human nature to revert to System Thinking rather than take time to Relational Think. I do believe there is a potential cultural blindspot in the Relational Thinking of almost all Leaders within any Culture. In addition, there is very little Relational Thinking passed on to those they make an investment to grow. As a John Maxwell Team Founding Partner and Executive Director of LAP Leadership LLC., I enable Leaders to not only become aware of the added value of internalizing and making Relational Thinking as much a priority as System Thinking within their Culture but to develop a Game Plan to grow their Leadership Team as well.
