I am a full-stack developer with a background in health sciences. I particularly enjoy tackling back-end logic, data modeling, and learning new languages.After graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in biochemistry, I took several online university courses in computer science to build a solid foundation using Java. Following several months of self-study, I enrolled and graduated from Code Fellow's Intermediate and Advanced JavaScript Development programs. While these programs emphasized the MEAN stack (MongoDB, Express, and Angular), we were also exposed to various alternatives, such as MySQL, Koa, and React. After graduating from Code Fellows, I worked for two years at a small Portland-based software company called SoSACorp where I grew my experience as a front-end focused engineer. I programmed in JavaScript using Angular and React frameworks, and found myself frequently learning new tools and libraries. The projects I worked on were often heavily focused on graphics and visuals, and I created tools for both desktops and phones.Following my time at SoSACorp, I joined a large-scale, e-commerce focused team at Nike where I currently work as a back-end software engineer. The requirements and challenges in this role are completely different than my previous role and it has been great fun and highly rewarding to learn more about software development from this new and exciting angle.
