The role has accountability for all technical programs directed toward the registration and development of a portfolio of new agricultural crop protection and enhancement products in the NAFTA region for Valent U.S.A. LLC. The position requires direct oversight of the following functional groups: Formulations, Regulatory Sciences, Quality Assurance, Registration & Regulatory Affairs, Industry Affairs, Field Discovery Biology, Product Development, Field Market Development, and Technical Operations. I am responsible for establishing and implementing strategies for the earliest possible registration and commercialization of these new technologies.

The role plays a key role in support of the performance characterization of crop protection products, seed treatment and trait technologies, ensuring that customers experience no late stage failures when products are used as designed. The IFS Trait Center of Expertise (CoE) team will be responsible for providing trait program and project leadership, ensuring excellence in scientific planning and innovation in experiment design and interpretation of research objectives across all crop and trait portfolios.

Field R&D leader for the Coastal States Field R&D group. Direct supervisor for Coastal Crops R&D—16 scientists and two field stations. Led performance management and career advancement reviews, balanced work plans and budgets for key region. Worked closely with commercial to ensure alignment of work plan to commercial and developmental goals.

Zonal Biology Team Leader, Insect Traits and Insect Management Traits and Seed Treatments. Responsibilities include project management and leadership for corn insect traits and biology/efficacy of SmartStax in North America. Responsibilities in seed treatment cover all crops across insecticide/fungicide actives as well as micronutrients. Role requires heavy networking with Monsanto, Syngenta and numerous smaller companies.

Product Stewardship Specialist for Insecticides, Seeds and Traits. Responsibilities include developing and implementing Asia/Pacific Product Stewardship Network; developing Global Product Stewardship Plan; identify EH&S trigger events and then, working with different business functions, develop and/or implement proper EH&S work process. Accountability as Leader for Asia/Pacific Product Stewardship; developed network of regional experts and implemented key components of EH&S strategy for the region.

Global Technical Expert, Insect Business Unit, Dow AgroSciences, Indianapolis, IN. Responsibilities include: chlorpyrifos, chlorpyrifos-methyl, dicofol, and triazamate. Act as technical liaison to the Regional Business Units and serve as technical advisor to the Global Chlorpyrifos Insect Business Team to develop new markets and retain right-to-sell in other markets. In addition, serve on Chlorpyrifos Issues Management Team; responsible for developing replacement markets for regulated products in the global market place; development and training on chlorpyrifos; technical advisor to the Bayer Crop Science growth initiative.

Sabbatical Assignment, Japan Business Unit. Develop new markets in Japan while learning particulars of the local Japanese markets and distribution channel. Successful project identified numerous opportunities (e.g. citrus valued at $7M) for growth. Worked closely with the local team, developed working knowledge of the business culture and local agriculture.

A United Way agency working with at-risk LGBTQA youth, Indiana Youth Group has been serving Indiana for nearly 30 years.

As a product stewardship specialist, I worked with insecticdes and traits globally and had regional responsibility for Asia/Pacific. Primary focus of the role was to manage risk with new launches or label expansions through business risk reviews. In addition, I handled other stewardship issues for our product line in insecticides and traits.

Customer Agronomist, Dow AgroSciences. Memphis, TN. Responsibilities include: Owner of crop star charts with TracerTM and SpinTorTM label. Development of key questions and district input for all insecticides in row and specialty crops. Represent needs to influential Tiger Teams in Coastal States Business Unit. Development of business cases to expand current markets. Support of all southern sales districts. Liaison to R&D community. Development and implementation of EUP and controlled launch trials. Liaison with channel partners, end users, officials and others. Technical expert for non-performance issues concerning insecticides. Helped secure six Section 18s on TracerTM and two Section 18s on SpinTorTM in 2000. As lead corporate representative in the field, helped leverage TracerTM sales in insect outbreaks which netted an additional 20,000 gallons of product.

Research responsibilities: Southern agriculture (97-99) covering insecticide pests on all crops. Coordinated influencers at universities, cooperators and private contractors. Planned research, monitored progress, entered data, delivered presentations and published results. Delivered primary research on spinosad market placement and acceptance within territory. Assisted sales force with technical expertise and pertinent data by supplying critical information to produce more effective sales contacts. Assist with non-performance issues in insecticide products.

Research responsibilities: principal investigator for the nematode discovery program from Oct. 1995 to May 1996. Developed market analysis, reevaluated current protocols and developed new methods centering on downward systemicity and host range studies. Principal investigator from April 1990-Oct. 1995 for aphid/sucking insect discovery project. Research dictated by the cotton, cereal and vegetable global markets. Led cross-functional staging team, facilitated phase probe, I and II teams. Developed testing protocols, compiled market analysis, integrated information for sucking insect handbook. Management responsibilities (1989-1996): oversaw insectary and greenhouse operations consisting of nonexempt, exempt, and contract labor. Insectary generated an insect value of $16 million annually for Dow AgroSciences. Led on-going insectary renovation. Served on numerous cross-functional teams (building, computer, and waste handling committees).
