About Mike Cleary

Throughout his career as a travel executive, Mike’s strategic approach to diagnosing issues and leading teams to execute has repeatedly driven businesses to increase revenue, profit, and market share. As a result of this growth, he has had two successful exits to market leaders in both the ski and educational travel sectors. In addition, he was a member of the executive team of StudentUniverse when it was acquired by the Flight Centre Travel Group (publicly traded ASX:FLT) in December 2015 and is one of the largest travel groups in the world. Headquartered in Brisbane, Australia, the company has more than 30 brands in its portfolio, $20B gross bookings, 3,000 locations worldwide, and employs more than 20,000 people. After the acquisition, Mike became the Executive Vice President (Interim MD) and StudentUniverse enjoyed the most profitable year in company history. This success granted Mike the position of Global Managing Director where he was directly involved in a number of international initiatives, including launches into Australia and Canada, and was responsible for StudentUniverse globally. When he is not working, Mike loves to spend time with his wife and three daughters, traveling and spending time on his boat or in the mountains skiing.
