I was raised in and around the construction industry, and have found myself back in the industry after leaving the University of Nevada. Currently I am an Outside Sales Representative for Sierra Trim in California. Growing up I only ever participated in the install side of the industry, and witnessed many of the downfalls with the construction supply chain. Moving away for college brought me three years of sales experience at Starbucks, which presented it's own array of supplier to customer complications. Now being back in the industry I know best, working a position I came to love, I use all my past experience to deliver the best sales experience I can.One key factor I've noticed in my years as a construction sales rep is the necessity of "non-relevant" skill training. Most sales people for example, have only ever worked sales. With me growing up in the industry, I have additional skills. The products I sell, I not only know how to install, but also how to make them as well. At my current job this has benefited me in two ways. First, if an order falls through the cracks, or our production team gets overloaded, I'm able to help out and/or produce the item myself. Second, when customers ask questions about a product, or order an item that requires additional parts, I'm able to assist them.In addition to the construction sales, I have found a way to integrate my true passion: technology. Growing up I was always the person to call when you needed help with tech. Wether it was an integrated home, enterprise server, or even just personal phone problems, I always had a solution. When I first started with Sierra Trim, my current company, we were a small doorshop and material supply company. All bids and sales were processed with Excel and Quickbooks. Through my time with the company, I have integrated numerous technological aspects into our offices and warehouses. Starting with Excel templates to efficiently price out 300+ unit buildings for the bidding department, I quickly expanded my reach. Today, Sierra Trim now has three offices and warehouses, all seamlessly working together, even from remote locations. I was able to train employees on, as well as implement, Enterprise Level Networking Equipment, POS systems from ECI Solutions, vehicle tracking with ELD logging, G-Suite, and an advanced virtual operator capable of directing calls to the employees desk or mobile phone.
