About Bill Evans, Md
CONGENITAL HEART CENTER NEVADASince 1980 CONGENITAL Heart Center Nevada has grown into one of the largest programs in the country now providing continuous care from the fetus to adults with congenital heart disease. With 20 physicians, offices in Las Vegas, Reno and Carson City, and a support staff or more than 150, we provide for about nearly 50,000 patient contacts per year (including > 2,500 fetal cardiac evaluations). These numbers are many times greater than most programs in the United States. We now have a > 85% prenatal detection rate for critical congenital heart disease in Nevada, which is 2-3X the national average.Our congenital heart surgeons, Dr. Michael Ciccolo as Chief and recently Dr Juan Lehoux, are full-time members of the Center and perform more than 500 surgeries annually. Our surgical program is larger than many others in the US. The CHCN hybrid program for the treatment of complex congenital heart disease, especially hypoplastic left heart (HLH) syndrome, is among the largest in the United States, and we have approximately a 91% survival rate for full-term infants with HLH without risk factors.CHCN has one of the largest and most comprehensive treatment programs for childhood obesity in the United States. The Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program at CHCN is now under the direction of Elizabeth Adams, board certified in adults with congenital heart disease. We are in the process of establishing a ground breaking single ventricle program we have named Fontan FIT.CHCN also undertakes and funds research projects in both clinical and basic sciences, including an innovative program that investigates DNA and RNA changes of the pulmonary vascular endothelium in pulmonary hypertension, under the direction Abraham Rothman.CHCN provides care to all, whether insured or not.http://www.childrensheartcenter.com
