ArtBuzz is an open, non-profit conference that aims to share professional knowledge, achievements and abilities that are hard to reach due to fast development of disciplines operating at the junction of technology and art. In cooperation with Microsoft, Intel, Autodesk, Wacom, Onet and others, ArtBuzz gathered thousands of people willing to share their knowledge and discuss trends in the fields of computer graphics and web technologies.My lecture about L-Systems gathered over 500 people during the first edition of ArtBuzz. L-Systems are a formal grammar used to model the look and behavior of plants and environment for the needs of visual effects and digital simulations. The lecture is available online (polish only).

Alvernia Studios is one of the most modern film studios in Europe. The facility combines complex film services with investment in its own productions and co-productions. The studio produces international features for theatrical release, video games, music projects and commercials.As a senior VFX Technical Director I was responsible for designing and developing tools allowing for photorealistic image generation and assets management, including:• Cloud sculpting and rendering engine (voxel sculpter, custom voxel subsurface scattering (SSS) computing algorithm, Renderman and Mantra shaders, Houdini plugins). It was used in title scene of "Arbitrage" (starring Richard Gere), "Vamps" (starring Sigourney Weaver), "The Flying Machine", several Toyota commercials and was also licensed to several VFX Studios around the globe. • Animation tool-set allowing for automatic animation of dependent elements, like engines throttle for a given spaceship movement and engines distribution.• Custom fluid and smoke solvers (mainly as Houdini digital assets) used for example in the Warner Bros production "Jak się pozbyć cellulitu".• Pipeline management tools, including procedural language for file dependency description and project snapshots automation. The language was based on the ideas of parallel rewriting systems, similar to L-Systems.
