After writing my Ph.D. thesis on the manufacture of transparent barrier coatings for packaging materials I continued to work on Roll to Roll (R2R) processes ranging from packaging films to pigments to flexible electronics and a lot in between. Working in R&D as well as production environments, including running my own operation for almost ten years, my focus is on process and product development and optimization. Processes include, but are not limited to, thermal, e-beam, sputter and CVD deposition, patterned and segmented films, barrier films for packaging and electronics (opaque and transparent) and surface treatment and preparation. This work so far resulted in 11 U.S. Patents, some of which have issued internationally as well, and has been recognized by AIMCAL with an AIMCAL Technology of the Year Award (2010). I have been called upon for production system startups, upgrades, process improvement and optimization, operator training and schooling, and am here to provide assistance to your needs. -
