I am an electronics/mechanical/software design engineer and inventor. My passion is to learn how everything is designed and manufactured. This has provided me with a well-rounded competency in the following skills: electronic design, firmware, software, mechanical design, CAD 3D modeling, machining, prototyping and design-for-manufacturing; with a focused skillset regarding self-balancing, motion control sensors, motor controller design, batteries and transportation physics. I founded Focus Designs Inc in 2003 with an enthusiasm for developing cutting-edge products. I released the first ever to market electric-self-balancing unicycle in 2008. The SBU has been continuously updated to the current SBUV3, keeping it on the cutting edge of technology. The expertise acquired from developing the SBU allowed me to develop the control systems for several other products including the Solowheel, Hovertrax, iShine, RYNO, and Onewheel.Running Focus Designs has provided me with an in depth experience regarding business, legal, patents, accounting, marketing and leadership. Although these practices and experiences are invaluable, my passion is always in the design and development of new transportation products.I’m always looking for opportunities and partnerships to develop innovative products of the future.
