My industry debut started back in high school with a "Career Experience" program/internship at a full-service Holiday Inn in 1987. Since then, I've worked through all levels and areas of hospitality before leaving a full-service hotel GM position in 2003 to foster the growth of my desires as a serial entrepreneur. After almost 20 years of providing onsite inspections (aka mystery shops) to some of the most incredible names in luxury hospitality, I've turned a corner by focusing on recruiting and consulting. Hospitality Connect was started as a sister company under the Guest Check umbrella, providing a fresh approach to traditional recruiting. All too often, I've heard the horror stories of a traditional "Head-Hunter" providing 100+ resumes for any given position along with a "guarantee" and a remarkably high fee...and it ended there. I tried to flip that approach to recruiting on its head...although my pipeline of talent is deep and diverse, I purposefully work in a very low volume capacity, preferring to share a few hand-selected and vetted candidates for review.
