I have spent my career strengthening the correlations between business strategies and the planning, design and management of work environments; and have focused on expanding our understanding of the breadth and depth of what workplace strategy can do for organizations and their workers. My particular passion is to share knowledge, insights, tools and experiences that help workplace strategists to develop more relevant and effective human-centric work-enabling strategies.Most recently, I led Allsteel’s Workplace Advisory team and a key element of the company’s research, mining science—including Jeff Leitner’s work on Unwritten Rules and Advanced Workplace Associates’ research into Knowledge Worker Productivity—for insights into the effectiveness of work environments.  In partnership with other talented workplace strategists, I have taught CoreNet Global’s workplace strategy-specific MCR classes since 2009. Over the last decade and more I also co-developed the core competencies that define workplace strategy and co-created and now lead periodic updates to the structure and content of CoreNet Global’s three MCR.w courses. At the beginning of my career, I practiced interior design for several years, then became a strategic planner and workplace consultant for Perkins + Will, and from there, HOK’s Consulting group. While with HOK I worked on site at Sun Microsystems for several years, then co-led the team that developed Nortel Networks’ groundbreaking Workscape Improv program in the late 1990’s.I have an undergraduate degree in Interior Design and a Masters of Business Administration. I was elected to the International Interior Design Association’s College of Fellows several years ago; and was the Chair of the Board for the Council for Interior Design Accreditation in 2019 in my sixth year of serving on that Board.
