The Lacerte brand grew to be the most respected in the industry and became synonymous with unparalleled product quality and customer service.Directly managed a team of seven engineers and indirectly influenced a team of 35 engineers in the development of the next generation of Windows tax products. This project required training engineers from Microsoft PDS BASIC to an Object Oriented Design and Development environment utilizing both Microsoft Visual C++ and Borland Delphi. Worked with the QA organization and the Service & Support organization to help them develop methodologies, tools and infrastructure for supporting the new Windows Tax Product.The following successes were achieved:• Lacerte Tax Software for WindowsResponsible for the technical leadership, majority of the application development and all of the project and task planning. Developed and executed DOS to Windows conversion strategy for migrating customers and the development teams to the new technology.• Task ManagerDeveloped an internal task management tool that was used by the entire 300 person company creating a paperless work environment allowing for fast and effective communications between all parts of the product development organization. The productivity gains helped to create the best and most reliable software in its history, reduced time to defect correction and reduced paper costs by 90%.• Lacerte Tax Software for DOSDeveloped a DOS to Windows DOS program allowing the company to abandon its PDS BASIC legacy technology and focus the engineering teams on the new core business technology. This change reduced costs by eliminating the need for duplicate sets of developers creating the same app for DOS and Windows.
