The rose-colored glasses approach paints a picture of “sure we can” but reality intrudes injecting "not hardly".As a 6-time former CIO and consultant fixing failing projects, I have the keen eye of experience to spot the variety of challenges that affect day-to-day organization performance and successful project outcomes. To that end:• Through observation of everyday activities (actions speak louder than words) at all levels of an organization, I ferret out what behaviors are limiting the success you must achieve. I go where the people do the work. Change control, project status, testing, analysis meetings, executive briefings, implementation efforts, problem resolution discussions, postmortems, etc., anywhere where the words should be accurately reflected in action..• Using the same approach for projects in distress, I diagnose what behaviors and missing components are present that are mitigating success. • If it is a new project, I conduct premortems and dig deep for clarity of understanding of the challenges ahead. I will question every assumption.Every organization and every project have some unique stress points, but most have similar behaviors that manifest themselves in project and daily performance.
