Began my career in the UK before moving into a number of senior international assignments in FMCG and service organisations in Thailand, the Philippines, Australia, North America, South Africa, and Kenya, where I gained extensive CFO and executive management experience in high growth environments, business integrations and turnarounds, factory builds and market scale ups. I developed a knack for simplifying businesses, improving control and governance, boosting KPI performance, optimising systems/processes, and creating working environments where people felt more inspired, more confident, and where we were always able to do more with less. Being able to create value and lead strategic and operational change programs across multiple functions and sites, along with good technical, analytical and modelling skills, I joined a Private Equity startup in South Africa for a period before venturing into something quite different, Agriculture. With my passion for solving problems, I decided to participate in as big a problem as I could think of, which meant creating a product and a business model to help solve 6 interlinked global challenges: 1) sustainable agriculture, 2) better livelihoods for farmers, 3) improved crop resilience and yields, 4) improved food security and nutrition, 5) greater rural equity and employment, and 6) emissions reduction. And so MONUTRIX was born.MONUTRIX is an Agri Biotech Co. that plants millions of trees in northern South Africa to produce a natural organic leaf extract (MOBIOSTIM) that is a growth stimulant (Biostimulant) for crops, achieving yield increases of 25% - 80%. The business has been bootstrapped since its inception. I believe in the value and potential of people, as they are not just the cogs in the machine, they are the machine itself, and the true source of competitive advantage. I feel a responsibility to create working environments for others to excel, to live to out their maximum potential and release their own genius and ingenuity. In Scotland, we call this their 'Ingine.'
