Phd Candidate
As a PhD candidate in the project 'B-Magic. The Magic Lantern and its Cultural Impact as a Visual Mass Medium in Belgium', I wrote the still unwritten history of the magic lantern as an educational tool in Belgian schools. In my research I shed light on the history of the projection of images in our classrooms - something we have been doing for 140 years now, without knowing much about its history.See: https://www.arts.kuleuven.be/cultuurgeschiedenis/en/current-projects-/b-magic-the-magic-lantern-and-its-cultural-impact-as-a-visual-mass-medium-in-belgium
Assistant Researcher
As a research assistant for the project 'Piracy or the Dissemination of knowledge? A history of counterfeit publishing in science, 1790-1890' I conducted historical research on piracy in Dutch and Belgian scientific periodicals. This resulted in the publication of a co-authored article on the influential position of journal editors as gatekeepers and mediators of knowledge from abroad. This article was published in De Moderne Tijd (see below).See: https://www.arts.kuleuven.be/cultuurgeschiedenis/en/current-projects-/piracy-or-the-dissemination-of-knowledge-a-history-of-counterfeit-publishing-in-science-1790-1890
