My past position at Gielissen can be summarized as connecting all the dots by being the main contact in the realisation process of any project.This means a lot of specific knowledge has to be implemented from multiple angles which made every single project a challenge.

Kitui District, Kenya

Ex-Change in the Netherlands and Sasol in Kenya are two Non-Profit Organisations cooperating to exchange knowledge and culture between the two countries. This exchange takes place in a Non-Governmental workfield in Kenya with projects like the construction of Sand-Storage dams, Laboratory Development, Agri Culture and Healthcare.For me, 2 months of volunteering in the Netherlands consisted of raising funds and awareness in a team of 4 volunteers.And 4 months of volunteering with my team in Kenya consisted of constructing a Sand-Storage Dam with locals by combining our technical knowledge with local possibilities and exploring local opportunities. The dam we built is located in the Kitui district, Kanziku. This is a very dry and remote area with no electricity within a 200km radius, which made the project a real challenge. But most importantly, a lot of exchanges were made.

As an assisting General Foreman on a big housing project (100+ appartments) I learnt the ropes of realising a project of that scale.

At Oosterhuis Architecture Bureau I was fortunate enough to have the lead Architect taking his time in showing me around in this fase of the building process. This by giving me my own responsibilities whilst watching over my shoulder.
