I strongly believe that ‘having been there yourself’ is a prerequisite for adequate and lasting facilitation, teaching and coaching. Therefore, over the course of ~25 years, university included, I gained hands-on experience from technology to strategy, from consultancy to delivery, from operation to transformation and from start-up entrepreneur to corporate vice president. Last but definitely not least - I took my own entrepreneurial leap back in 2012. Furthermore, the term ‘work-life-balance’ always made me smirk. As if a person needs to balance his true self with his ‘not so true’-self at work. In hindsight, I came to realize that this person was (also) me. I consider these epiphanies as a gift. I also know and see them as the fruits of labor. I am absolutely convinced that this ‘soft side’ is, contradictory to popular (Western) business believe, the most crucial, and therefore perhaps the most underestimated, ingredient to modern-day business.
