The senior design engineer is responsible for the coordination of the substantive, business, financial and organisational handling of a project. Next to leading a project, this involves:• Setting up the project plan: defining, planning and estimating the deliverables,• Advising in ideas/concept phase w.r.t. technical feasibility and product build-up,• Setting up the technical construction and determining the production methods,• Estimating the final production price and the required investments,• Making the risk analysis and validation procedure, coordinating the prototyping,• Developing and refining the parts in 2D and 3D (Pro-Engineer en Unigrahpics),• Determining, outsourcing and supervising the production tooling (e.g. injection moulds).

Division: Engineering (future products), Projects: DC03 (vacuum cleaner) and X003 (washing machine) Responsibilities:• Idea generation: brainstorm sessions, hand drawings and models in cardboard,• Concept design: determining the product-layout, functionality and mutual dependencies of the parts by means of volume studies, the making of working prototypes in cardboard and ABS, and shape studies in foam,• Detailing: determining the production method, assembly, material selection and mould functioning. Constructing the parts in 3D with Unigraphics, controlling the details and functionality with help of Fusion Deposition Modelling (FDM) models, Stereo Lithography and Injection Moulding, fixation of the parts and CMM measurement points in scale drawings,• Production: solving production problems, assessing and adjusting moulds, designing of ‘end of line’ testing machines, setting up and supervising test programs, making the assembly drawings and exploded views.
