Avans University of Applied Sciences in Breda asked me in 2009 to give a few lectures on security in the recently started curriculum of the School of Security and Governance. These 'few lectures' as freelancer grew gradually as time went by. Starting September 2011, I am employed as a regular lecturer. As coordinator of the 4th-years students, I.

After 36 years serving in the R NL Navy, and retired as CAPT-navy, I was requested to join the Netherlands Defence Academy as an associate professor in naval strategy and maritime operations. Now, 7 year later, I thank my colleagues for having me there, thank my student midshipmen and cadets for listening. I am grateful to have witnessed the accreditation.
