VP Television Programming and Local Productions for the GPB, the primary public television network for the nearly four million homes in Georgia. Responsible for television program acquisition, local programming approval, scheduling, research, and on-demand development. Primary responsibility is to connect Georgians to high quality video content that comes from a variety of sources. The content comes from PBS, primarily, but also American Public Television, the BBC, Acorn/RLJ, local independent producers, and internal station producers. Select content that both serves organization's mission (to education, inform, engage and entertain) but also will actually be watched. Create the primary schedule for air, and once aired, evaluate how successful the programs were in reaching audience. Provide oversight to internal team of experienced producers, and help prioritize budget priorities for internal production efforts. Guides creative service unit for promotion priorities, reviews underwriting for S&P compliance, and works with digital services team to develop on emerging methods of content delivery.Maintains communications with station relations representatives, respond to carriage requests, and double checks FCC, CPB, and other reports for accuracy.Previously, Director of Education and New Media:Direct energetic and diverse team of new media developers, designers, content specialists and educators to create web sites, games, mobile applications and educational content properties. Transitioned sleepy web site from little more than a brochure and a schedule to one of the top 10 performing public media digital properties in the country. Led transition from custom Java-based CMS to open-source Drupal CMS, greatly decreasing effort required to maintain web site and optimizing search engine results. Transitioned commodity digital services to more cost effective outsourced vendors.
