This office also liaises with the 12 bureaus of the department to keep a pulse on business engagement across the department. Their key mission is to represent private sector interests through strategic engagement on behalf of the Secretary of Commerce. OBL serves as the unofficial ombudsman for the business community and trade association stakeholders. Unique in the Federal government, the OBL is the only full time team of professionals (created by executive order) dedicated to advocating for US business around the world. Assisted business development and sales team in developing related international business opportunities for the company . Led the SIA Anti-counterfeiting Task Force (ACTF). Worked with several high-tech industry coalitions on immigration reform, intellectual property protection, education and tax reform. Managed all projects with the association's large team of lawyers, lobbyists and public affairs consultants, overseeing a combined budget of more than two million dollars annually. Served as a Board Director for the Institute for Research on the Economics of Taxation (IRET) and as a guest lecturer at the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy, National Defense University.

Managed all training and equipment for a M119A1/A2 (105mm Towed) Howitzer Light Artillery Battery based in Sandston, VA - Served as both a Platoon Leader and Battery Fire Direction Officer. During this tenure, Alpha Battery was judged "Best Battery" and he was awarded two Army Commendation Medals for exemplary service.

Wilson served as Fire Direction Officer for the 111th Fires Battalion; a position he assumed in October 2013. In this role he was responsible for the safe delivery of lethal fires to support the training plan for the 116th IN and joint training exercises across the commonwealth.

After serving as a Platoon Leader (30+ Soldiers and NCO"s) in the 3/116th Infantry Battalion from 2008-2009, Wilson was transferred to the historic Lynchburg, VA based First Battalion 116th Infantry Regiment, and then Bedford, VA based Alpha Company, beginning as Platoon Leader, then as Company Operations Officer and as Battalion Public Affairs Officer for their deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in COB Adder, Iraq. His service as an "Additional Duty" acting as BN PAO resulted in a theater wide commendation for coverage of Task Force Overlord's service during the transition from Operation Iraqi Freedom to Operation New Dawn. The BN's service was chronicled famously by Time Magazine, Paris Match, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, and award winning four part front page features in both the The Virginian-Pilot and The Roanoke Times.

Led a team as Counsel to the Chairman on all political matters and managed the Chairman’slegislative projects. Served as principal liaison to the Republican Leadership, the White House and to outside coalitions. For two years, successfully led a coalition of over 100 House Members to protect American manufacturers in drafting the largest rewrite of international tax law in a generation. Managed negotiations with appropriators on the annual SBA budget; secured passage of the 2004 SBA re-authorization; led the Chairman’s public campaign in opposition to new RESPA rules and crafted hearings on the impact of Visa issuance delays on American business. In addition, managed all district appropriations requests and political projects.

Served as the Senator’s political designee; Counselor for ethics matters; and acted as principal legislative strategist for non-immigration judiciary issues, technology policy, IP, culture, natural resources, appropriations and agriculture issues

Created a new legislative staff. Established polices and procedures for mail and public services and advised on all political and internal matters. Supervised the Washington, DC staff and managed the member’s service on the Majority Whip team and on the Republican Study Committee. Led on appropriations, labor, technology, patent reform and intellectual property issues.

Led the association’s effort to advance significant OSHA reform legislationand prevent the implementation of an onerous ergonomics regulation. Represented the AGC in meetings with House and Senate leaders and in a variety of industry coalitions focused on Labor and Employment issues.

Served as Legislative Assistant for a freshman Member of Congress from the third district of Kansas. (Kansas City Metropolitan Area) Principal adviser for all issues before the Committee on Government Reform and Oversight and as liaison to House Majority Whip Team. In addition, served as the staff lead on all legislation before the House Judiciary Committee, including patent reform, social issues, technology policy, telecommunications, immigration and labor policy.
