Wrede is an investor in-, advisor to- and board director of growth-stage technology companies. He spent eight years in a variety of director-level roles at Airbnb, where he helped steer global business units, product teams and functions through rapid growth, global expansion and a variety of external crises. Most recently, Wrede led the integration of Airbnb’s global events and business travel teams into a single division focused on a long term vision for group travel. There, he and the combined team incubated and launched a number of products critical to the company’s post-Covid rebound and future growth.Previously he served as company chief of staff and principal deputy to Airbnb’s Chief Operating Officer, with whom he developed the company’s overall operating model and the product strategies that addressed the company’s regulatory headwinds globally. He started at Airbnb in late 2013 as the company’s first General Manager, responsible for leading the business in US cities. Before Airbnb, Wrede worked at Bain & Company and held an Innovation Fellowship at Harvard Business School. Wrede spent several years as a foreign policy officer of the US government, serving in the United States, Middle East, and Europe. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and an A.B. from Harvard College.
