Construction Project ManagerFulton County Public Works Jul 2017 - PresentRoswell, GeorgiaConstruction Project Manager, representing Fulton County, on a $330 million dollar expansion of Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility from 24 MGD to 32 MGD, expandable to 38 MGD. This is a Joint venture design/ build project by Archer Western and Brown & Caldwell This will be a 56 month project. The service area is approximately 70 square miles and includes Roswell, Alpharetta, portions of Milton, and areas of Cobb and Forsyth Counties.Several upgrades and expansions have been completed on the facility to its current permitted treatment capacity of 24 MGD.Due to the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District forecast, which takes the continued population growth and economic development into account, the facility requires additional capacity to meet the growing wastewater treatment demands of the service area. The expanded plant will be designed to handle 38 MGD using state of the art membrane technology and new odor control systems. The project will also replace aging equipment, remove older and unused facilities and incorporate additional enhancements to improve operational reliability.Despite the significant increase in capacity, the water produced will be of a much higher quality and will result in a waste load reduction to the Chattahoochee River by up to 50 percent of the currently permitted levels. The improvements to the facility will also address the odor issues that the community has been experiencing. Exposed weirs and water surfaces have created a foul odor that spreads to surrounding neighborhoods. Additionally, there will be multi-stage chemical scrubbers and granular activated carbon (GAC) used in the highest odor areas. GAC will be used for the remainder of potential odorous areas. Sensors will also monitor the air leaving the GAC units to make sure they are working properly. -
