My responsibilities include conducting non-destructive testing in both the field and shop environment. I perform any required non-destructive testing on overhead sign structure anchor bolts in the field and structural steel bridge members in the shop and in the field. This requires the administration of ultrasonic testing by both conventional angle and straight beam techniques according to established inspection procedures. My responsibilities also require that I utilize magnetic particle testing equipment to determine weld integrity.

Perform pre, in-process and post fabrication inspection of structural steel bridge members, overhead sign structures and other structural materials per GDOT/AWS/AASHTO/NSBA specification and/or code requirements. Perform technical reviews of governing specifications and shop drawings prior to the fabrication of structural members and verify mill certifications for proper ASTM grade and test results. Administer welder qualification test and verify welder qualification and certification level for all welding operations performed. Independently inspect fabricated structural members for weld integrity, dimensions, camber, sweep and protective coatings to ensure compliance with approved design drawings prior to final acceptance and approval.

My responsibilities include in and out of state travel to perform plant and field inspections of miscellaneous construction materials such as paint, thermoplastic, anchor bolts, steel strain poles, fencing, iron castings, elastomeric bridge bearing pads, electrical conduit and highway signs. Additionally my role required the performance of reinforced concrete pipe, precast drainage structures, corrugated metal pipe and reinforcement steel plant audits and inspections. These duties required visits to project sites for materials verification procedures and to provide technical assistance to project personnel.
