Doug received a Bachelor of Music degree from Capital University, a Master of Music degree from Kent State University and has done additional graduate work at the Ohio State University.Doug was director of orchestras at Thomas Worthington High School, where his high school ensembles have consistently received superior ratings at the top level of Ohio Music Education Association State Orchestra Adjudicated events. His school orchestras have also participated in music festivals in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Virginia Beach and Myrtle Beach, earning top ratings and festival honors.Doug has served for years as string bass coach and orchestra clinician at the College of Wooster Music Camp, and is the bass instructor for the summer string teachers workshop held yearly at the Ohio State University working with Dr. Robert Gillespie.Doug and his wife Lori (an SSO cellist) were selected by the Ohio Arts Council to be part of a cultural exchange program with the Ministry of Education in Chile, where they traveled and directed orchestras in Copiapo, La Serena, Cauldrea and Santiago.Doug Wright has been a member of the Springfield Symphony since 1994. He has also performed with the Akron Symphony Orchestra, Ashland Symphony, Mansfield Symphony, Southeast Ohio Symphony, Newark-Granville Symphony, the Greg Bauman Big Band, Crystal Knight Rock Band, and the Durango Bluegrass Band.
