Health And Well-Being
Up until October 30th, 2023, I held a job consistently since July 2014, not including four years of sporadic babysitting/nannying for several families from 2010–2014. All throughout high school, college, studying abroad, club leadership positions, organizing hackathons, varsity sports, volunteering, and academic tutoring, I also had a part-time or full-time job until I graduated from college and started working for Bungie. Not to mention the almost nonstop barrage of bad luck in my personal life, especially surrounding my health.Given the immense workload that I took on, burnout was inevitable, and it finally caught up to me after being laid off from Bungie in October 2023 due to a reduction in force. Nothing was distracting me anymore, so I had no option but to address my physical and mental exhaustion. Therefore, to ensure that I would be a strong team member in future positions, I decided to take one year off to recover before seriously applying for jobs.I felt guilty at first since all I had known for the past decade was constant work and hardly giving myself a moment to breathe. However, after reflecting on the past year, I can confidently say it was absolutely necessary and am proud of myself for taking a step back to put my health first for once. Now that I have established a healthier life balance for myself, I am ready to continue my career.
