Environmental Volunteers -- The "EV" -- is a national leader in environmental work reaching more than 565,000 kids since 1972. We accomplish our award-winning programs through the power of our Volunteers of all ages who offer creative learning adventures in classrooms, local tide-pools, redwood groves, oak-woodlands. The EV operates primarily in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties surrounding our EcoCenter in the Palo Alto Baylands Preserve. We now also have Sprout Up chapters at Santa Clara University, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, Cal Poly, Columbia University /Barnard College, and New York University. Climate Resilient Communities is a community-based organization dedicated to serving the underrepresented through empowering community voices to implement climate solutions that bring about unity and resilience.

Currently instructing 16-hour Wilderness First Aid certification courses as a Wilderness EMT and NR-EMT. Certifications: WEMT, NR-EMT, CPR, Epi.

Leading weekend and weekday classes in Sea-Kayaking, Climbing, Cycling (Road & Mountain), Backpack Cooking, Backpacking, GPS, Map & Compass Navigation.

Helped to lead the western region, advanced NRDC Action Fund and Green Leaders for Change, connect stakeholders to NRDC and the implementation of the Biden-Harris Administration's Climate Investment Act (aka the Inflation Reduction Act) while learning about the policy, advocacy, litigation, and science leadership of the organization.

Building upon a strong foundation of science, partnership and field demonstration, Conservation International empowers societies to responsibly and sustainably care for nature, our global biodiversity, for the well-being of humanity.

Played early role in California’s leadership of the Our World campaign for land, water, ocean, and conservation finance outcomes. Led a small team. Worked in all facets of fundraising from gift planning to principal gifts to capital campaign development and execution. Developed expertise in creating complex gift structures and partnering with philanthropists to help them realize their desired conservation outcomes through the integration of philanthropy into their overall financial, tax, and family situation.

Campaign Director of the Northern Sierra Partnership, a collaborative initiative of five organizations working together to conserve, restore, and enhance the magnificent natural landscape of the northern Sierra Nevada. Projects included: Royal Gorge, Anderson Valley, Sardine Valley, Sierra Valley Challenge, American River Headwaters, Sierra Valley RCPP, Carpenter Valley, and silent phase of Frog Lake.

Wrote and directed the annual development / communications plan with annual giving (membership), major gift, corporate / foundation grants, planned gifts, municipal grant reporting, and fundraising events (home events to large banquets). Managed the marketing plan, monthly newsletters, press releases, media alerts, production of videos, print publications, and the website.

Temporary position to coordinate gift solicitations for a major anniversary event. Role involved the procurement of auction items, coordination with caterers, securing donated food and wine, entertainment, and photography resources. Managed guest invitation and volunteers. In total 330 people attended with a combined tickets, donations, corporate sponsorships, and auction proceed to raise funds more than twice the goal for the event.

Supported day-to-day operations of the development office; team member involved in solicitation for major gifts; wrote foundation and corporate grants. Implemented special events and coordinated outdoor hikes, picnics, and tree dedications. Managed event budgets, project timelines, corporate sponsorships, project evaluations, and prepared reports through Raisers Edge.

Communications Intern for trainings at the United Nations Office of Humanitarian Affairs, System Influenza Control. Supported development and implementation of training workshops focused on UN system preparedness for Influenza, non-health aspects of pandemic preparedness planning, and country level coordination of avian and human influenza prevention with and among representatives of delegate Asian countries.

Selected from a competitive pool of applicants for a three year Fellowship in nonprofit and community leadership at El Pomar, a $500 million foundation serving the state of Colorado. This hands-on leadership opportunity enabled me to direct and serve on several of El Pomar Foundation’s outreach programs while participating in specialized professional development courses.

Formerly owned by the Phipps Family, La Garita Ranch was a private guest-ranch in southwest Colorado, and the site of the first conservation easement of The Nature Conservancy in Colorado. Through four high-school summers and two college summers played in the high country of Colorado while learning how to run a private nature preserve with four conservation easements, hire, train, manage, budget, and inspire a seasonal team to convey a private restaurant, horseback riding, and fly-fishing guest ranch for our guests and members.
