Displayed a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Focused on study management for Phase I and Phase II chronic myleoid leukemia and acute myleoid leukemia trials.

The majority of my time at Providence was spent working on The Oregon Health Study, the first study to evaluate the impact of have or not having insurance coverage within a randomized controlled trial (gold standard in medical & scientific studies). I recruited study participants and conducted health screenings. I specialized in conducting qualitative interviews and assisted with the coding/analysis process using ATLAS.ti software.

HEALTHY was a National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded, multi-site diabetes prevention research project. I assisted with biometric health screenings for data collection at 6 control and intervention middle schools in Oregon.

Led initial needs assessments, taught health classes, managed HIV/AIDS prevention projects, and ran a local water project during my time in West Africa. Living in a small African village shaped my world view and outlook on public health and how it impacts our daily lives.

My work as an intern served as my inital exposure to public health research. I assisted Dr. Hiroko Dodge with her research for the comparative analysis of centenarians in Okinawa and Oregon. I conducted literature reviews and wrote pertinent summaries.
